In my Machine Design class, we were challenged to design and build a remote controlled vehicle capable of manipulating several toys, requiring dexterity, precision, and speed in a final competition. In a team of 5, we designed and built our “robot” with the goal of efficient fabrication and a simple, reliable mechanical systems. I was responsible for the main lift, a 14 inch power screw that was capable of lifting 15 lbs. In addition to the lift itself, I also designed and built a simple reversible switch to run the lift up and down. Our goal of a reliable design was met, we had no mechanical problems during competition and our machine was kept as an example to show to future classes
